Consultation for Therapists

Support for the clinical, professional, and very human parts of being a therapist.

Being a therapist is meaningful work, but it can also be complicated, isolating, and surprisingly personal.

Sometimes you need another therapist to help you think through a difficult case.

Sometimes you need support navigating the business of private practice.

And sometimes you just need a place to say, "I don't know what I'm doing here," without having to figure it out alone.

I offer consultation for therapists who want a thoughtful, experienced person to think alongside them as they navigate the many layers of being a therapist and building a sustainable practice.

This might mean talking through a challenging client, exploring something that is coming up for you in your work, troubleshooting a private practice question, or making space for the feelings that inevitably come with putting yourself, and your work, out into the world.

You can bring the whole picture. Your clinical work doesn't exist in a vacuum.

The client who is challenging you may bring up questions about your confidence.

Setting a new fee may bring up fears about being "too much."

Choosing a niche may bring up worries about turning people away.

Growing your practice may bring up imposter syndrome.

Working alone in private practice can sometimes leave you wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same things.

Consultation gives you somewhere to bring all of it.

Clinical Consultation

Bring the cases, questions, and clinical moments that you want another perspective on.

We might explore:

  • Challenging or complex cases

  • Feeling stuck with a client

  • Treatment direction and clinical decision-making

  • Therapeutic relationship dynamics

  • Therapist reactions and use of self

  • Trauma and attachment work

  • Integrating experiential, relational, or somatic approaches

  • Questions about interventions or treatment approaches

  • Clinical confidence and self-doubt

My role isn't to tell you what you should do. We'll slow down, get curious, and explore what's happening so you can arrive at your own thoughtful clinical decisions.

Private Practice & Professional Development

Building a private practice can bring up far more than business questions.

You may know what you should do and still find yourself struggling to actually do it.

That's where consultation can be especially helpful.

We can explore:

  • Finding and refining your niche

  • Identifying the clients you most want to work with

  • Website and messaging questions

  • Referral-building and networking

  • Fees, money, and increasing your rates

  • Imposter syndrome

  • Visibility and putting yourself out there

  • Boundaries with clients

  • Creating sustainable policies and practices

  • Balancing clinical work with the business side of therapy

  • Navigating professional transitions

  • Developing confidence in your professional identity

  • Creating a practice that feels aligned with who you are

And sometimes the question underneath the question is the most important one.

You might come to consultation saying:

"I don't know how to market myself." And discover that you're afraid of being seen.

"I need to raise my fees." And realize you're worried that people won't think you're worth it.

"I don't know what my niche should be." And uncover that you're afraid choosing one means closing doors.

"I feel stuck with this client." And realize something about the therapeutic relationship needs your attention.

These aren't failures. They're opportunities to get curious.

I believe the emotional experience of being a therapist deserves just as much attention as the practical questions.

My Approach

I bring more than 13 years of experience as a therapist to my consultation work, along with a relational, experiential, attachment-based, and trauma-informed perspective. My work across a variety of diverse clinical settings has challenged me, deepened my perspective, and helped me build a strong foundation of skills that continue to inform my practice today. If you'd like to learn more about my experience and approach, I invite you to get to know me here.

I don't approach consultation as an expert handing down answers. I see it as a collaborative process of thinking together.

You know your clients. You know your practice. You know yourself.

Sometimes it simply takes another experienced therapist sitting beside you to help you see what's already there.

This may be a good fit if you...

  • Want an experienced therapist to think alongside you

  • Are navigating the unique challenges of private practice

  • Feel isolated working independently

  • Want support with difficult clinical situations

  • Are developing your professional identity

  • Are struggling with confidence or imposter syndrome

  • Want to integrate more relational, experiential, trauma-informed, or nature-based approaches

  • Want both practical guidance and space to explore what's happening underneath the practical question

Individual Consultation

Consultation is flexible and tailored to what you need.

You might come with one specific question or use our time to work through several things that have been on your mind.

50-Minute Consultation is $175 - A focused session for a clinical question, private practice issue, professional challenge, or a combination of the above.

90-Minute Consultation is $265 - A longer session when you want more space to explore a complex clinical situation, work through a larger professional question, or dive deeper into practice development.

Consultation is available virtually and in person in my Longmont office.

Consultation Groups

I also periodically offer small-group consultation for therapists who want both professional support and connection with other clinicians.

Groups may include case consultation, private practice questions, professional development, and honest conversations about the experience of being a therapist.

Reach out to inquire about current group options.

Consultation vs. Supervision

What's the difference?

Consultation is for therapists who want additional perspective, support, and professional development. It may include clinical cases, private practice development, professional identity, or the emotional experience of being a therapist.

Supervision for Licensure is a formal supervisory relationship for clinicians working toward independent licensure and is structured around applicable licensing requirements. Consultation does not provide licensure supervision or count toward required supervision hours.

If you're unsure which type of support you're looking for, I'm happy to talk it through with you.

You Don't Have to Figure It Out Alone

Whether you're sitting with a complicated case, wondering how to grow your practice, questioning your confidence, or simply feeling the weight of doing this work on your own, you don't have to navigate it by yourself.

Sometimes what we need isn't another course, another book, or another answer. Sometimes we need someone to sit beside us and say: "Let's slow this down. What are you noticing?"

That's what consultation can offer.
